Fig 4.16.1 Slide showing blood sugar levels after tolbutamide acid and salt. Rapid dissolution and absorption is not always the objective. Sometimes a slower release is required. In the case of tolbutamide, used to lower blood sugar concentrations, a more sustained release is better causing a more gradual reduction in blood sugar.
