Dear PharmPC,
Is theophylline bound to proteins found in blood serum? If so, would it
remain bound to these proteins after a liquid extraction with chloroform
was performed or would the chloroform layer now only contain the free
portion of theophylline?
Thank you in advance,

My guess is that it is only weakly bound and will all extract with
chloroform, but I would do a serial extraction/analysis anyway to determine
recovery efficiency of each extraction from the aqueous protein phase.
