To all,
Does anyone know the pKa of trifluoroacetic acid. This organic acid is
also know as perfluoric acid, perfluoroacetic acid or TFA.
Thanks in advance

Albert and Serjeant (The Determination of Ionization Constants, 2nd Ed.,
Chapman and Hall, 1971, p.84) list this value as 0.59 at 25 deg C.
L.Eberson (Acidity and hydrogen bonding of carboxyl groups, in S.Patai,
Chemistry of the carboxylic acid group, Ch. 6) lists this value as 0.25 at
25 deg C.

The Merck Index shows the pKa of Trifluoroacetic acid to be 0.3. You may want
to confirm this with another source.

TFA is a very strong acid and should be completely dissociated in an
aqueous medium. So the pKa should be at about 2,0 or lower.
